Now that silver jewellery is so much in fashion and younger women love wearing it the most, it is a good idea to know the ways that it can be cleaned for it to always look shiny and sparkly because silver has a tendency to go black if not look after constantly.
Of course there are products on the market that do all this for you like silver dips which come in a large glass jar with a basket attached to a handle and all you do is place your silver bits into the basket, lower it down into the solution for a few minutes and when you bring it out it will be as good as new.
There are also silver cloths which are impregnated with a silver cleaning solution and you just have to buff your silver with it to bring out the shine again.
But for the times when you don’t have either of these products in your home and need to clean it in an emergency there are some common house hold products that one usually has to hand, that will do the trick almost as well.
The first one is the toothpaste that you have in your bathroom. Use an old toothbrush, and keep it aside for your silver for future use, place some toothpaste on it and brush it all over your silver. Leave it on for about 5 minutes and then scrub away with the toothbrush and finally to rinse it off keep scrubbing but this time under the tap. It will look great. (more…)
